The naming of your child is a very special event; an opportunity to mark your child’s arrival in the world and to formally introduce him or her to family and friends. It is a moment to express your dreams for your child and to invite special friends and family to play a special part in his or her life.
A humanist naming celebration is non-religious, undertaken with love and care by an accredited celebrant of the British Humanist Association.
You are free to choose where you want this special occasion to be held; in your own home, your garden, a local beauty spot or place of special interest or personal significance.
You are free to choose the words that you wish to use on this day to express your intentions for the love and care that you offer your child. Some families choose to write the whole ceremony, while others prefer to be guided by the celebrant – the choice is yours to be involved as much or as little as you wish. It is always nice to invite other family and friends to take part, perhaps by expressing their promises to the child or by reading poetry or a piece of prose.
Of course Kate will bring her years of experience to your aid and will offer her advice about what has worked well in the past, while fully realizing that this is your unique special day that is to be special for you and your child, your family, and your friends.
